The Place of Burial of Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ

Per the traditions and common belief, there are two different places believed to be the burial sites of the Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ.

According to some traditions, his tomb existed in a small village near the city of Safwa in the eastern part of present-day Saudi Arabia. It is believed to have been a famous site, visited by Muslims as the tomb of Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَام during the Ottoman regime. However, later, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia demolished all such monuments, considering such venerations as against their beliefs.

Another place situated in the city of Egil in the Diyarbakir Province of Turkey is also considered the burial place of the Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ. The original grave, claimed to be the grave of Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ was situated in the riverbed and was much likely to be damaged by the floods in 1994.

After thoughtful consideration by a committee of 9 senior scholars, the body of the Prophet was exhumed and buried on the nearby mountain secretly during the night. All the official workers and the nine scholars had a chance to watch the body of the Prophet during exhumation and re-burial at the top of the mountain. Many of the residents saw the Prophet in dreams and gathered in the morning to see his new burial place.

However, there is no concrete evidence available about the exact burial site of the Prophet Al-Yasa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ.
