- Certificate of vaccination against quadrivalent (A/C/Y/W135) meningococcal meningitis, especially for pilgrims from some African countries, such as Cameron, Mali, Gambia, Nigeria, and Sudan. This needs to be done at least 10 days prior to entry into Saudi Arabia.
- For the pilgrims of higher medical risk category, vaccination against seasonal influenza is also required, which should have been administered 6 weeks before departure for Hajj or Umrah.
- At least 400-500 Saudi Riyals for instant expenses on arrival at Jeddah Airport.
- For more expenses, you may take with you US Dollars or British Pounds, which can be exchanged in Saudi Riyals at Jeddah Airport or anywhere in Mecca and Medina. The amount may vary with your requirements. You need to consider how much would be required to meet your expenses during this sacred journey. - Debit cards (ATM) and credit credits, which are valid for international transactions. You may need to contact your bank to confirm whether international transactions are activated on your cards.

- Pocket-size Quran. A regular-size Quran would also be a good option if you can handle it safely.
- Booklets containing hajj and umrah duas that need to be recited on different occasions and sites during the Umrah and Hajj. Most of such duas are common for both Umrah and Hajj.
- Make a list of special supplications that you will need to recite, such as duas for the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِۦ وَسَلَّمَ and duas for all the previous Prophets.

- A hard-shell suitcase should be selected instead of a soft one.
- The size of the suitcase should not be too large; it should be according to the luggage you are carrying with you. Perhaps two small bags might suit you better.
- Suit case should have the provision of lock and key.
- A backpack would also be quite handy for carrying items of instant use. This should not be too big, as it would be difficult to carry.
- A small handbag should also be a good choice for keeping travel documents.
Daily Use Items to Pack for Umrah and Hajj
The list of items for daily use largely depends on your choice, except for some essential items. You may add or remove any items that you think necessary:
- Two sets of ihram, made up of thick cotton or towel. Avoid acrylic fiber, as it is normally too hot in Mecca. Safety Pins would also be required for wearing Ihram.
- A waist pouch is quite necessary, especially during the Hajj days, to keep valuables such as currency and other important identity documents.
- Clothes for use out of the Hajj days. These should be light, as the weather is mostly hot there in Mecca and Medina.
- That includes jogger-type shoes, washroom sleepers, and sandals. Sandals will be required while you are in a state of Ihram, whereas Sneakers or Joggers will be useful for traveling at other times.
- To avoid losing your footwear while entering the Masjid, keeping them in a shoe bag that can be carried along everywhere is recommended.

- All the medicines that you take on a regular basis.
- All the medicines prescribed for a certain medical condition that you often have to use.
- General healthcare medicines such as painkillers, cold and flu, and motion-sickness medicines may be required by some people while traveling, especially during air travel.
- Diarrhea tablets, lozenges, vitamin C tablets, and any other such medicine that you often use.
- Moisturizing cream or lotion, lip balm, and vaseline.
- First aid plasters and bandages.
- Sunblock lotion.
- ORS and glucose.
- Be careful with your medicines, as some of the medicines may not be allowed by the Saudi authorities.
